Are you looking to remove URL parameters from being tracked into your Google Analytics reports?
With ExactMetrics, you can easily exclude parameters from your URLs before it gets sent to Google Analytics. Learn more by following this guide.
Prerequisites:
- Your ExactMetrics is installed and activated.
- Google Analytics is already authenticated on your website.
First go to ExactMetrics » Settings » Advanced » Exclude URL Query Parameters and enable the option “Filter out specific URL query parameters from being tracked inside Google Analytics”.
A text field will appear where you can insert the parameters that should be excluded. Please note this setting is case sensitive and only accepts alphanumeric characters, underscores, and dashes.
Let’s say you’re seeing the following in your Google Analytics reports:
example.com/?fbclid=[randomize_string]
To remove the “fbclid” from URLs moving forward, simply insert it into the Exclude Query Parameters field and save your changes.
This means that “fbclid” and any other parameters specified within this option will be removed by ExactMetrics before a page view is sent.
That’s all! Now you know how to Exclude URL Query Parameters with ExactMetrics.
